Ross Childs, Hockey Mentor

This week I pay homage to one of my best mentors, role models, and friends: K. Ross Childs, who passed away a year ago at 84. He played goalie at Michigan, won Michigan Civil Servant of the Year, ran two city hockey little leagues, and raised three children – one of whom died in a car accident. Yet somehow he learned to live with it, so he could continue to serve others — a ringing example of how to live your life.
